Wild Blue Herons at the historic Columbia

We have a very special event coming up March 28 which we’re excited to let you know about!

Wild Blue Herons will be the first act performing in a five-show series celebrating the return of New Westminster’s historic Columbia Theatre as a live music venue. This is a gorgeous theatre, built in 1927 as an “atmospheric theatre” in the Moorish style very popular in the day. The Columbia is one of very few examples left in North America. It’s a great room to see a live act and we are really looking forward to playing there!

In honour of March being International Women’s month we will be playing a tribute to the “GREAT LADIES OF JAZZ” as well as some of our own tunes.  The Great Ladies will include Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horne, Billy Holiday, Nancy Wilson and others.

Our band that night will be:  Darlene Ketchum (vocals), Bill Sample (piano/vocals), Rene Worst (bass), Buff Allen (drums) and Bill Runge (sax).  Collectively, these stellar musicians have played with Ray Charles, Diana Krall, Chet Baker, Michael Buble, Joe Pass, Lenny Breau, Ed Bickert, Rob McConnell  to name a few.

Reserved seating and $5 off for any tickets purchased by March 21.

We hope you’ll join us there!
